Blog N°8: subjects and social movements
This semester at the university I had a subject called "subjects and social movements". The bouquet by name alone seemed very appealing to me, and then as time went by I realized that I liked it very much.
The teacher brought to the course several guests representing different social movements, such as the non+afp movement, feminist movement, representatives of socio-environmental conflicts, among others.
The idea is to demonstrate how social movements generate demands and articulate themselves so that these are fulfilled, since they are organized people who have discomfort around a specific problem.
Social movements are very important, since they are the ones that seek to generate changes in the country based on different demands, and they are the ones that mobilize and call on people to demonstrate against injustices.
I think it is very important to have a bunch of social subjects and movements in the social work career, as it shows us another area of work where we can perform, based on the support we can give to these movements and realize the importance of their demands.
I really enjoyed studying this topic this semester, and what did you like studying?

ResponderEliminarOh, I think it's an excellent idea to invite people representing different social movements to the classes, listening to they must have been a very interesting experience! This semester I liked to study something quite different (the empirical basis of some neuromyths of Education and Psychology) but what you write sounds very good and I would like to have participated.
ResponderEliminarI am also interested in this topic. I think that an articulation of these movements is necessary in terms of a thought that goes beyond themselves. It is interesting to observe these in the light of a very indivualist society.
ResponderEliminarI find full interesting and dynamic this methodology of bringing actors involved in the issues to expose in the classes, it´s great!
ResponderEliminarI am in that same class and I also liked it. It was fun that at the end of the classes the teacher wants us to take a photo with the representative of social movement.
